En Mars 2006, le groupe Mezcal Jazz Unit,invité par l'Ambassade de France en Inde, a effectué une résidence à Calcutta avec le célèbre percussioniste Bickram Ghosh. S'en est suivie une tournée de deux semaines à travers l'Inde, dans le réseau des Alliances françaises.

Le label indien Saregama India Ltd s'est interessé à cette expérience musicale Est-Ouest et a décidé de produire un album, reflet de cette création commune.

La sortie du C.D. "One" est programmée pour Décembre 2007.

Cet projet "One" veut célébrer la rencontre d'un jazz européen et de la musique classique indienne. Il se veut le reflet d'une démarche commune et sincère de la part de musiciens de continents différents pour aboutir à une fusion musicale la plus passionnante possible.

With the support of the French Embassy in India, the French band MEZCAL JAZZ UNIT came to Calcutta in March 2006 and worked with the famous percussionist BICKRAM GHOSH. They toured together for two weeks to metro based Alliances françaises all over India.

Seeing a great opportunity to promote a new style of music and to develop relationships between East and West, Saregama India Ltd recorded their music.

The album “ONE” will be released in December 2007.

This project "One" celebrates the connection between European jazz and Indian classical music. It reflects that with dedicated time, sincere efforts and common passion, when musicians from two different continents meet, they create really interesting fusion music.
